Creating Sustainable Communities: schools as power stations?

schools as power stations?

Just a thought, but if schools / public buildings are being encouraged to generate their own power, what about taking it one step further and imagine them as micro power stations for their immediate communities - owned within a neighbourhood and serving that neighbourhoods needs - generating sustainability knowledge as well as real power?
