Volcanic reminders

I have been thinking about the volcano in Iceland and the repercussions of the ash cloud.
How bloody inconvenient nature is to our routine.

Seems to be an interesting acknowledgement of something bigger than ourselves. Not even the bankers could stop it happening and they are next to God, and the scientists report that the whole thing is highly unpredictable, I like that, the unpredictable honesty of nature playing with the predictable human world.

Our mistake I guess is thinking that we are the authors of our destinies, once we forget that we are part of something a little bit bigger than ourselves we also forget that nature is in us and we are in it, co evolving. It  is a timely reminder, should we choose to see it, that our daily life is deeply entrenched in nature and that when we cut ourselves off from that recognition we delude ourselves completely.

And it pusheed the election off the front page of the news for a week - now that is a story!
